A little bit grunge

For my shift at work the other night, I decided I was feeling a bit.. rocknroll? So I threw on my new Rolling Stones tee, some denim shorts with a chunky black belt and my favourite grungey leather boots. I decided to go all out on the beauty front too with a dark grey smokey eye, textured hair and a pink lip to finish the look. Everything you see in this outfit post is from New Look, as that's where I work and there's a fairly strict uniform policy - all New Look all the time ha.

For the makeup look I used the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation, Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and Rimmel Stay Matte Powder for the base. On my eyes I blended together Tease and Pistol from the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette and Chateau from my Bare Minerals Ready Eyeshadow 8.0 Palette for a charcoal grey smokey eye. I then lined the eyes with the Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen and used Blackout from the Naked 2 Palette to deepen the colour on the lashline and create the flick. I used Mac Bare Study Paint Pot as an inner corner highlight. My eyebrows were filled in slightly with the Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in 004 Black Brown. I finished with a few coats of the Bourjois Volume Clubbing Mascara and a slick of Mac Creme Cup on the lips.
To create texture in my hair, I used two products from the L'Oreal Studio Matte and Messy range - the Shine-Free Fibre Paste and the Shine-Free Salt Spray before blowdrying.

Here's the finished look:

What do you think of this slightly grungier look?
What are your must-have pieces or products for a rocknroll look?

Let's fly away, drive away, take a holiday

Hiya girls, sorry I've been a bit AWOL recently. I think I've been suffering from a little bit of blogger's block! But I am back with a vengeance (and a long list of posts I am dying to get written for you lovely lot).
So to kick off the blog revival, here's an outfit post - I know it's been a while, my blog has been very beauty-focused recently, but my love of fashion has well and truly returned this month thanks to browsing a lot of fashion mags and blogs, as well as the highstreet churning out some seriously stylish pieces (I can feel a haul post brewing..)
One such amazing Summer piece has to be the now iconic Zara mini skorts - the skirt-shorts combo that has catapulted Zara to the top of the style charts recently. They look incredible dressed up or down, I was so smitted I accidentally bought it in two colours. Oops.
The orange pair are the focus of this outfit which I wore whilst on a mini-holiday in Spain last week with my dad and sister.

Mini Skort: Zara // Cami Top: New Look // Sandals: Primark (old) // Clutch Bag: New Look
Toe Nails: Collection Fruit Salad with Barry M Papaya and Matt White

These lightweight sheer cami tops are everywhere right now and I thought this white one from New Look would be pretty as well as practical (got to keep cool when it's pushing 36°c), though I couldn't decide whether I wanted it tucked in or left out as you can see ha. These floral Primark sandals were totally neglected when I first bought them and I have no idea why as they're so feminine and summery, this Summer they've rarely been off my feet. I'm really loving this tribal clutch bag at the minute too as it's totally unstructured and fairly big so I can fit all my night out essentials in it without struggling to close it. Score!
I used my Amazon dotting tools to do the simple flower design on my toenails.

What are your thoughts on the Zara mini skorts?
Fashion fad or a style with staying power?

Worldwide Wardrobe Competition || Travel Supermarket

It must have been around a month ago now when I first read about this amazing competition from Travel Supermarket and I was so excited to get to work on my entries. It's open to all fashion bloggers and all you have to do is put together an outfit with accessories for each of the five destinations: Sightseeing in Paris, Clubbing in Ibiza, Shopping in London, Cocktails in New York and Partying at a Full Moon Party in Thailand. Your outfit, including accessories, should cost under £200, and you can enter all five categories, or just one or two, whichever way you want to do it!
The winner from each category will win an incredible prize: a dream trip to the destination that their outfit was inspired by AND the £200 to buy the outfit you designed. There is one judge for each category - some of my favourite bloggers Lily (Llymlrs), Lily (WhatIHeartToday), Lexi (FashionFilth), Ella (LaPetiteAnglaise) and Emma (Milkteef).
Find out more and enter HERE - the competition ends on the 5th June.
I decided to enter three of the five categories: Sightseeing in Paris, Cocktails in New York and Partying at a Full Moon Party in Thailand.
Here are my outfits:
When I think of Paris, I always think of romance and amazing fashion. I have an A Level in French (fun fact) and I love the language and culture but I've never actually been to Paris. Visiting this beautiful city is definitely on my bucket list. I'd love a chance to see the amazing landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame, as well as sampling the amazing food and getting to practice my French with the locals! I wanted my outfit to be pretty and feminine so I chose a floaty skirt in a pastel blue hue with a sheer polka dot blouse. I know heels aren't the smartest choice for sightseeing but I always feel so much more feminine when I'm wearing them and these tan sandals from Zara have a chunky manageable heel and will help to dress up the outfit slightly. I'm not really one to over-accessorise and I like the ladylike simplicity of this outfit so I thought a tan satchel and this pretty rose gold watch from River Island would add to the cutesy feel. I'd finish with a coat of one of my favourite nude polishes, Barry M Lychee.

I've never been to America but one day I have to go - and New York is the first place on my 'to see' list. I think of New York fashion as being effortlessly cool and chic, whilst still being on trend. For cocktails in New York I wanted to create a sexy monochrome evening look with a pop of colour and print. I think this side-split maxi skirt from River Island would be perfect for an evening in the Big Apple, and I would pair it with a simple cami and a chunky statement necklace for my go-to cocktail outfit. I am in love with ankle strap sandals at the minute and these gold metal cuffed heels from Asos are amazing. My favourite piece of this outfit though has to be the gorgeous tribal envelope clutch from Zara. It's beautiful and caught my attention straight away, I'd love showing this off in New York. Clutch in one hand, raspberry daiquiri in the other!

Thailand is such an exotic location, it's somewhere I would love to visit with my boyfriend or friends to experience the culture, the food (Thai food is somewhat of a weakness for me) and of course, the famous Full Moon beach parties. Yellow is a colour that really makes me happy and think of Summer, so I'd pair a cute yellow bikini top with these white Zara piqué shorts and a gorgeous embroidered kimono from Topshop as a cover-up. I think the tan gladiator sandals would be stylish yet comfortable so I'd be able to party til the early hours. For accessories I'd add a yellow satchel - I love the scallop-edge detail on this Asos one, and some oversized sunnies and a statement necklace. Ready to hit the beach.

I hope you like the outfits I put together, this is actually the first time I've ever made an outfit collage and I had so much fun with it. I'm sorry that the writing has appeared a little faded in the images - I hope you can all see where the items are from!
The five bloggers I nominate to try the challenge are: Jenna, Katie, Kate, Faith and Amy!

Good luck if you enter the competition girls! I can't wait to see your entries.

Topshop Joni Jeans

Last week whilst browsing in Topshop, I picked up a pair of the famous Joni jeans to try on. I promise - I wasn't going to buy them. I just wanted to try them on to see what all the fuss was about. I even picked up the 32inch leg Jonis (I'm normally a 30") because they were the first ones I saw in my size. See I clearly had no intention of buying them.
Then I tried them on...
As soon as I put one leg in these jeans I thought to myself, 'Oh no, I'm going to have to buy them'. They are just the softest, stretchiest jeans I've ever worn. They are also really flattering as they are high-waisted with a single button fastening. The 32" Joni jeans also fit me perfectly so I took that as a sign that I HAD to buy them. They come in various colours (black, navy blue..) but I love the pale denim ones that I picked up as I think they have a really trendy vintage feel to them.
For a trip to the cinema the other night, I paired my new Jonis with an equally new Tee that I picked up from Topshop the same day. It says Brat, and I thought that was funny.

Leather and Monochrome

Tee: H&M
Leather skirt: H&M
Heels: New Look
Clutch bag: River Island
Necklace: New Look

I went for a night out in Newcastle last night for my best friend's 21st birthday and I was so excited to wear my new skirt for the first time. I loved the leather skater skirts that have been big recently but after some unlucky ebay bidding wars I gave up on owning one. Then I saw this leather mini skirt in H&M and loved it, and it's a bit different. I also bought this monochrome striped clutch bag this week and then found a gorgeous matching necklace when I was at work (in New Look) yesterday.
Oops sorry for the bobble on my wrist, that's not very trendy is it. But it is handy.

Anyway, here's a lovely picture of me getting ready with my Remington heated rollers in.

Sexy and I know it.. HA

Uni Days

Tee: New Look
Jeans: New Look
Boots: Topshop
Necklace: Topshop

I was really naughty on Monday and skipped my first two lectures in favour of a lie-in.
Not a very exciting outfit today but I'm still practicing this blogging thing ha.
A large amount of the clothes I own are from New Look because I work there and get a very generous 50% staff discount - who could resist that? Although New Look isn't my favourite shop on the high street, I do think it is underrated and sometimes has some really nice and reasonably priced clothes/shoes. Since I'm there 3/4 times a week I suppose I get to see a lot more of what they have to offer so can pick out the items that I like.
I'm really loving these boots at the minute, they are so comfortable. They actually belong to my sister but I am slowly stealing them since she rarely wears them ha.
